It was an absolute honour to host the inaugural Gloucester and Borders Texel Breeders Club Progeny Show this year. The event, which was held at Clanfield on Saturday 14th May, attracted members from across the Club areas and further afield to put on a show of tremendous quality for judge, Jeff Aiken of the Procters and Tatham Hall flocks.

Having won her class, our shearling ewe, THE2100860 went on to stand reserve champion behind an impressive shearling ram from Paul Castle. By the flock’s first main stock sire, Hope Valley C The Stars, this one is out of a Sportsmans bred dam by Knock Abracadabra. Mr Aiken described this one as “a gimmer with style and presence and tremendous body.” We also stood second in the shearling ewe class with a full ET-bred sister.

Also standing top of the line for us in the ram lamb class was THE2200953. By the 100,000gns stock tup, Auldhouseburn Expression, this one is out of a Mullhouse Crossbow daughter. We took a second place in the shearling ram class with a Sportsmans Ducati son out of a Haltcliffe bred female by Tima Yogi Bear and then third with another Ducati son, this time out of a Plasucha dam, by Eden Valley Wiz Kid.
Our shearling ram and shearling ewe teamed up to win the shearling pairs class, while we stood second in the lamb pairs class.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped prepare for the day, the sponsors and to all those breeders who attended on the day. A full gallery of images can be seen on Country Girl Media’s website.
