A Royal Three Counties Show to remember!

The show team had an exceptionally successful outing to Royal Three Counties Show in June, with both the Texel and Rouge teams collecting an array of prizes.

In the Texels we won six of the eight classes on the day, going on to take both the breed championship and reserve championship.

Leading the way was our first prize shearling ewe, THE2100734, a Hope Valley C The Stars daughter out of a Hexel dam. She was one of four shearling ewes we had forward on the day, with the other three taking second to fourth places. All three of these were full sisters by Hope Valley C The Stars and out of a Sportsmans ewe by Knockem Abracadabra.

Taking the male championship and the reserve overall championship was our first prize ram lamb, THE2200953. Sired by the 100,000gns Auldhouseburn Expression, he is out of a homebred Millhouse Crossbow daughter. This one is entered for the English National Sale at Worcester. We also picked up a third in this class with THE2201044, with this one being a full brother to the first placed lamb and entered for the Scottish National Sale, Lanark.

In the aged ewes we won the class with CKP2004726, a Sportsmans Cannon Ball daughter which was purchased at Longtown in January for 4500gns.

Then in the ewe lambs we took first with THE2201017, a daughter of the 100,000gns Expression out of the same Hexel dam as the champion. She also took the reserve female championship on the day. Second in this class was THE2200999, another by Expression and this time out of a Strathbogie ewe.

Adding to the success were wins in the pairs and group of three lambs classes, with the group going on to lift the interbreed group of lambs championship later in the show, an accolade that meant an awful lot to us on the day.
